Sarah Sears is a designer/ artist based in Kjipuktuk (Halifax) NS. She earned a BFA in 2013 majoring in Jewelry Design and Metalsmithing and an MFA at NSCAD University in 2024. In recent years, her work has begun to explore larger scale objects, including furniture and sculpture in metal, plaster, concrete and natural/ found materials.
Sarah’s work explores themes of sustainability in design and materials + processes. Her current body of work is a site-specific response to where she currently lives and works in Mi’kma’ki, where she collects mussel shells and other debris that wash up on the shores of the harbour and transforms them into new pieces designed for gallery spaces aswell as everyday use.
